CALL TO ACTION: We want YOU to attend the MANHATTAN SCHOOL BOARD MEETING at 7PM tonight (March 14, 2018).
Elwood School District #203’s Superintendent Cathie Pezanoski will be presenting the district’s resolution against NorthPoint Development’s Compass Business Park at the Manhattan School District #114’s board meeting Wednesday eveneing. The Elwood School District passed their resolution against NorthPoint Development late in 2017. Wilson Creek School, where Manhattan’s school board meetings are held, would be just shy of 1 mile from the proposed industrial development.
The Elwood School District is not the only taxing body to have passed a resolution against NorthPoint Development’s Compass Business Park. Several others have passed formal resolutions against the industrial warehousing development. Most recently, Manhattan Township passed theirs resolution, citing concerns with the additional traffic and impact on local infrastructure.
If you pay taxes in Manhattan (Manhattan Schools are a HUGE part of your tax base), show up to the Manhattan School District’s School Board meeting and speak during open comments. You’ll have the opportunity to voice your opposition to the 2,000+/- acre project and to urge the Manhattan School District to join the other taxing bodies in issuing a resolution of their own against NorthPoint Development.
Manhattan School District’s board meetings are held in the main gym, which can easily be found right inside the main entrance of Wilson Creek Elementary School. Wilson Creek School is located at 25440 S Gougar Rd, Manhattan, IL 60442.
Come out and show your support for Elwood School District’s Superintendent, Ms. Pezanoski, at the Manhattan School District’s board meeting. Be sure to voice your opposition to NorthPoint Development’s Compass Business Park.
