TAKE BACK WILL COUNTY

Petitions against additional warehousing, including NorthPoint Development, are sprouting up because residents in Will County have had enough. Here are the current petitions that we are aware of — we encourage you to sign all of them and let everyone know we have had enough with elected officials putting the developer’s greed ahead of their constituents. Speak out today!

SAVE OUR VETERANS CEMETERY AND NATIONAL PRAIRIE FROM TRUCKS AND WAREHOUSES (Started February 2021)

Governor Pritzker is being pressured by NorthPoint to take jurisdiction of certain roads away from Elwood so NorthPoint can build their bridge.  This online petition created by the Stop NorthPoint group is telling Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker to keep control in the hands of local governments and prevent tens of thousands additional daily trucks, crashes and pollution.  Please sign this Change.org petition by visiting this link.

NO MORE WAREHOUSES IN WILL COUNTY (Started August 2018)

This online petition will send an email directly to Will County Board members and is asking for a moratorium on any projects proposed or planned for Will County that will increase truck traffic without solid, measurable progress on improving the dangerous highway infrastructure. Please sign this Change.org petition by visiting this link.

NO WAREHOUSING EAST OF 53 (Started June 2017)

The original “No to NorthPoint Petition,” which calls for no warehousing east of Route 53 in Elwood has been circulating the area during our door-to-door campaign and at special events and it’s available online. If you haven’t seen one yet, you can stop in to Kirby’s Bakery, Fritz’s Saloon, Kraus Cable & Internet office or Gallagher’s Pub — all these locations in Manhattan have petitions available for you to sign.  To sign this petition online, click here! Please note that if you signed our petition in paper, you need not also sign it online. You do not have to be a resident of Elwood or Manhattan (any adult over the age of 18 can sign).

SIERRA CLUB’S “TIME OUT ON MASSIVE WAREHOUSE AND DISTRIBUTION CENTERS IN WILL COUNTY” (November 2017)

There is a separate petition organized by the Sierra Club that calls for “Time-out On Massive Warehouse and Distribution Centers in Will County.”  EDIT 4/2021: A Sierra Club story about this petition is here but the take-action button for the petition is dead.

Thank you for making your voice heard!
