MANHATTAN RESIDENTS: PETITION
Folks from Manhattan will be going door to door with a petition that will eventually be presented to the Manhattan board. We do not have an online component to this petition as we are getting the petitions collected notarized to ensure that they are filled with signatures from Manhattan voting residents.
We understand the desire from folks in the unincorporated area who want to sign (we get it first-hand — Delilah and Stephanie cannot sign our own petition), but we are trying to send a message that it is, indeed, residents of the village who do not want the project.
IT’S TIME TO TAKE BACK WILL COUNTY.
Petitions against additional warehousing (including NorthPoint Development’s Compass Business Park) are sprouting up because residents in Will County have had enough. Here are the current petitions that we are aware of — we encourage you to sign all of them and let everyone know we have had enough with elected officials putting the developer’s greed ahead of their constituents. Speak out today!
No warehousing east of 53 (CREATED JUNE 2017 – STILL COLLECTING NEW SIGNATURES)
The original “No to NorthPoint Petition,” which calls for no warehousing east of Route 53 in Elwood has been circulating the area during our door-to-door campaign and at special events and it’s available online. If you haven’t seen one yet, you can stop in to Kirby’s Bakery, Fritz’s Saloon, Kraus Cable & Internet office or Gallagher’s Pub — all these locations in Manhattan have petitions available for you to sign. To sign this petition online, click here! Please note that if you signed our petition in paper, you need not also sign it online. You do not have to be a resident of Elwood or Manhattan (any adult over the age of 18 can sign).
SIERRA CLUB’S “TIME OUT ON MASSIVE WAREHOUSE AND DISTRIBUTION CENTERS IN WILL COUNTY” (created november 2017 – still collecting new signatures)
Additionally, there is a separate petition organized by the Sierra Club that calls for “Time-out On Massive Warehouse and Distribution Centers in Will County.” Here is the link to learn more about and sign the Sierra Club’s petition.
NO MORE WAREHOUSES IN WILL COUNTY (CREATED AUGUST 2018 – COLLECTING NEW SIGNATURES)
This petition was created by a local concerned resident using Change.org. This online-only petition will send an email directly to Will County Board members. You can sign this petition by visiting this link.
Thank you for making your voice heard!
