Laraway Board of Education in opposition to NorthPoint

On March 10, 2020, the Laraway Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution stating that NorthPoint’s “proposed industrial development is NOT in the best interest of the Laraway Community Consolidated School District 70C, its students or its citizens residing in within the boundaries of the district” and that “any such development would adversely affect the safety of its students and citizens.”

  1. Thank you for putting your objection in a official resolution. This is what is needed from the people on the south and southeast side of Joliet. Your voices need to be heard. Scream louder to get theough the deaf ears. Individually you may also want to reach out to your council members.

  2. Land is always for sale, that’s nothing new… but cities are supposed to determine how they grow, which is the reason for a planning and zoning commission. Their job is to make sure any purchases that are outside of the interests of the town are met. Sadly, throughout this experience with NorthPoint, these folks who are supposed to be the GATEKEEPER for the direction of growth have been complicit because each one has been appointed by their mayor.

I’m so thankful for each and every group that has said no to this project.
