Joliet NorthPoint Application to go Before Joliet City Council; NorthPoint to Hold Own Meeting

As we saw with the Elwood Plan Commission, the Joliet Plan Commission passed the recommendation of rezoning for 103 acres to the Joliet City Council without any discussion or questions and after a large number of residents speaking in opposition to the project. The vote was unanimous.

The plan commission meeting, which was held at 4:00pm in the afternoon on Thursday, October 17th, 2019, was well attended, despite it being during typical business hours when most people were working.

Though formal notifications have not gone out yet, we believe this will go before the Joliet City Council at the Pre-Council Meeting November 18th, 2019 5:30pm for discussion and the City Council Meeting November 19th, 2019 at 6:30pm for the vote. Both meetings are held at Joliet City Hall, 150 W Jefferson in downtown Joliet.

NorthPoint Development is also holding a meeting for neighbors so that they can determine issues with the proposal and address them ahead of the council vote. Meeting notices were mailed to adjacent property owners on the 29th, with most receiving them November 1st. Meeting information is below.
