WJOL: NorthPoint’s Unauthorized Cutout Road No Longer Exists

Less than 24 hours after reporting on an unauthorized cutout from a controversial construction site to a significant Will County road, the cutout no longer exists. On Wednesday morning WJOL News reported on the cutout that NorthPoint had constructed a cutout onto Route 53 from the work site to move the trucks in and out of the area. JHN: Stop NorthPoint exposes ‘Illiana Light’ expressway plan

Opponents to NorthPoint Development’s plan for a Joliet logistics park said the developer has urged state officials to resurrect a scaled-down version of the Illiana Expressway to gain a route to another intermodal 30 miles away.

The path of Illinois Route 53 in Elwood, just south of Joliet, is bucolic. Running along the east side of the road, travelers spot bison grazing at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. Farm fields and open space grace historic Route 66 as it moves through Will County.
