Tell Joliet public health takes priority : Just Say No To NorthPoint

NorthPoint is pressuring Joliet to hold a hearing in spite of the Coronavirus Pandemic because they have land contracts that will expire at the end of April.

JOLIET’S PRIORITY NEEDS TO BE PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY. NorthPoint just needs to continue the options – problem solved.

NorthPoint Development should NOT be given special treatment IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC simply because they want their project approved NOW.

Dear Mayor and Joliet City Council,
It’s come to my attention that NorthPoint Development is pressuring Joliet into holding a hearing solely because they have land contracts that will expire at the end of April. During this pandemic, Joliet’s priority needs to be with the public’s health and safety. The only way to ensure public health and safety while maintaining the integrity of the hearing process is to continue to delay this hearing until the COVID-19 crisis is over and the public can be in attendance. NorthPoint lied about the original 103 acres and now demands special treatment in the middle of a global pandemic simply because they want their project approved now. The expiration of their land options is not the City of Joliet’s problem. The rights of the citizens to be at a full public hearing should not be denied simply because NorthPoint wants it now. Who is in charge here? Joliet or NorthPoint? Don’t allow NorthPoint to bully you into giving them control of your city. With people sick and dying our focus needs to be on staying healthy and the health of our families and friends, not on the desires of this developer. It is unreasonable to allow a billion-dollar developer’s financial gains to take priority over the rights of voting residents to attend an open hearing. As a taxpaying citizen, I demand the right to be at this hearing, therefore postpone the NorthPoint hearing until it is safe for all members of the public to attend.
