JHN: Black pastors speak out against NorthPoint

… “He already knows the pastors in Joliet are against it,” Pastor Wendell Martin of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church said Wednesday. “He only had one pastor from Joliet. The others are from who knows where.”

Rev. Herbert Brooks Jr., pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Will County Board, said he is against the NorthPoint project and so is his congregation.

“‘I’m going to stop coming to church here.’ That’s what they say,” Brooks said when asked what church members say about the NorthPoint project. “Some of our older members have already stopped coming to church here.” ….
