Compass Business Park: Rammed through Joliet or already in the works early last year?

The Village of Elwood has been diligently contacting the City of Joliet since the middle of 2017 in order to get an extension to their Boundary Line Agreement, which was about to expire at the end of 2019.  Information obtained through FOIA shows these repeated attempts.

  1. Published via Patch January 30, 2020. Interim city manager Steve Jones said the following…
-“We just need more details,”– HE LIED!

-“Obviously, economic development is good,” Jones said. “But we have to see the value, and how the transportation access is handled. Right now, it’s a work in progress.” — HE LIED!

    – Furthermore, “we will be meeting with the village of Manhattan to be discussing this,” Jones said at the most recent council meeting. “We have to get our head around this. — HE LIED!!!

THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND CRIMINAL CHARGES SHOULD BE FILED AGAINST EVERYONE INVOLVED! THE CALCULATED DECEPTION TACTICS WITH THE INTENT TO WITHHOLD INFORMATION FROM THE RESIDENTS IS AGAINST THE LAW!

  2. Lies and coverups all over. Doug Jenco went before the City Council to ask for the extension of the boundary agreement and was told they would not consider it until the comprehensive plan was completed. Well, the plan still is not completed and their intention is obviously not to entertain a boundary agreement. A bit fishy considering they were already considering invading the area with the annexation of NorthPoint property. Dirty, back handed deals!

  3. Over and over again Elwood has requested extention to the Elwood/Joliet boundary … At times NO response from Joliet and the other times sounds ALMOST like Joliet “blowing off” Elwood … WHY hold off and NO discussion ??? Sounds like behind “closed door” dealings.
