Manhattan School District Says NO to NorthPoint

Manhattan Dist. 114 is the Fifth Taxing Body to Oppose NorthPoint

At last evening’s school board meeting in Manhattan, the board presented and passed by a unanimous vote a resolution against NorthPoint Development. They are the fifth taxing body to oppose this 2,200 acre industrial warehousing project. The other taxing bodies who have previously passed resolutions include: Jackson Township, Manhattan Township, Elwood CCSD #203, and the Elwood Fire Protection District. Other organizations that oppose NorthPoint Development include Warehouse Workers for Justice, Open Lands and the Sierra Club.

Watch as the board of Manhattan School District 114 votes to approve a formal Resolution Against NorthPoint Development.

Superintendent Rusty Ragon went on WJOL April 12, 2018 to explain why the board decided to oppose the project. You can listen to him on Sound Cloud here:

This Project is Not Inevitable

For those of you on the fence, this project does not have to be passed. While the project is overwhelmingly opposed by locals in the area, they are supported by major taxing bodies and organizations. Our fight is legitimate, and together we can be heard. Show up April 23rd to the Hearing in Elwood and speak your peace before it’s too late.
